Guilt Proneness and Prosocial Behaviour Intentions across University Students: A Predictive Study

“A dispositional tendency to experience negative self-conscious emotions following transgressions or failures live up one's own others' standards is termed as guilt proneness” (Tangney et al., 2007). Guilt usually seen in light and often labelled uncomfortable proneness undesirable, but a common motivation for individuals engage prosocial behaviours manage the their lives. The deliberate actions in, benefit others society whole, sometimes even at cost themselves are behaviour intentions. These can include acts of kindness, cooperation, volunteering, sharing, donating, helping need (Eisenberg & Mussen, 1989). It was hypothesized that predictive factor intentions an individual. Shame Proneness (GASP), developed by Cohen al. (2011), Prosocial Behavioural Intentions Scale (PBIS), Baumsteiger Siegel (2018) were used measure intentions, on data set 155 university students, this study explored relationship between these variables through simple linear regression further, fitted model formulated. Inferential descriptive statistical tests across various demographic variables. findings indicate significant predictor there statistically differences mean scores age groups annual household incomes. results discussed along with limitations scope future research.
